Ever since I was in high school I have loved reading fashion and lifestyle blogs. I’ve also had it in the back of my head that I’d like to start a blog myself. However, that idea took the back burner because I was busy working towards another goal. That goal was moving out of state to work in merchandising. I was also a tiny bit scared to put myself out there on the internet.
In June, one month after I graduated college, I was actually able to to accomplish those two main goals! With 3 weeks notice I found an apartment without seeing it in person and packed up all of my belongings and flew from Seattle to Texas to start my career as a Merchandise Assistant. Everything that I had been working towards for 7 years finally was falling into place.
I am currently really enjoying my life in Texas. I found a social group to join which has helped me make great friends really quickly, I love the food, and I don’t hate the fact that it’s still above 70 in November! The one issue has been the fact that I moved down here without a car (shocking, I know) and that I am trying to set aside so much money to buy one. Uber helps for some things and there is, surprisingly, a bus that is pretty convenient to take to work. But, the lack of car really makes it hard to have a consistent hobby. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of things I enjoy doing in my free time but I haven’t been investing my personal time into something rewarding now that I’m not spending so much time trying make the dream of moving out of state for merchandising happen.
With some encouragement to take a risk and the need for something new to invest my time into, I decided it was the perfect time to start this blog! I don’t claim to have post grad life completely figured out but I feel like I have learned more in 5 months than I ever did in school. When I was in the process of moving I kept trying to find blogs about moving far away from home directly after graduation; while I found some, I kept wishing there was more out there about the process. I had always pictured myself starting a fashion blog if I started a blog, but I realized I had something a little more unique to myself that I could share with others. There will still be some style talk on here since that has been a big interest of mine for years, but the main goal of this blog will be to share what I have learned or am in the process of learning by making a huge move and starting my dream career so quickly after graduating. I hope that I can possibly help anyone who has a similar goal. If your post grad goal isn’t quite as extreme as mine there will still be plenty of content that simply pertains to figuring out life after college.
I will cover topics ranging from career advice, managing long distance friendships and making new friends, getting healthy and staying healthy, style advice, and finances. Keeping on top of all these aspects of your life can be exhausting which is what inspired the name of this blog. Essentially, this blog should help you keep working towards the life you want for yourself just like coffee keeps you going in the morning!
