I haven’t posted in a few days because my family was actually in town for Thanksgiving! It was so great to see them since I hadn’t seen them in five months. I thought it would be fun to share what we did the whole time they were here since it gave me an excuse to explore Dallas even more.
After they arrived on Tuesday they picked me up from work and then we got dinner at Twisted Root Burger. I hadn’t had a really good burger in a while so this place was a perfect casual place to go after a full day of travel for my family. After we ate I showed them my apartment.
Even though I live in the area, my family actually got a hotel in downtown Dallas to make exploring easier. They let me stay with them which was nice since I ended up getting my own mini vacation out of the visit. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which was pretty nice.
On Wednesday we went to the JFK museum which was super interesting. After that we walked up to Klyde Warren Park. From there we took the McKinney Ave Trolley up to West Village in uptown. We ate at Urban Taco and everyone loved their meal! I got the ahi tacos and a hibiscus margarita which were super yummy. Once we had dinner we just checked out some of the boutiques at West Village.
On Thursday (Thanksgiving) we didn’t have reservations for dinner until 6:00 pm so we had some time to kill. We got a late breakfast at the restaurant in our hotel and then went on the hunt to find a open coffee shop which was pretty difficult. So if you are ever in downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving and need coffee, go to Weekend Coffee. After that we decided to go to Reunion tower to check out the view. When it was finally time for dinner we went to CBD Provisions. The food was amazing and everything had so much flavor!
On Friday we started our day off by checking out the flagship Neiman Marcus store. Then we made our way over to the Bishop Arts district for brunch and shopping. We ate at Oddfellows which I had been wanting to try for a while! After brunch we just checked out all of the little boutiques. I ended up getting a super cute top from a store called Strut. Then it was time for some college football. We made our way over to the Knox Henderson neighborhood and went to Henderson Tap House to watch my team play our rival. We lost 🙁 but it was so great to actually be able to watch with other people who went to my school instead of watching it by myself in my apartment. Hopefully there will be more alumni watch parties there!
My family left Saturday morning after a great visit and luckily I won’t have to wait another 5 months to see them since I will go to Seattle for Christmas. Also, the other girl in the picture is my sister, in case you were wondering. To never miss any of my updates, please be sure to subscribe in the side bar!
