Recently I found a bunch of jewelry from JCPenney that I really liked. I haven’t always been a jewelry person though. I always wear one silver ring that says “love”, but besides that I really only wear the occasional Kendra Scott. The more I work in the retail/fashion industry the more my appreciation for accessories has grown. I realized that at work I tend wear the same outfits on rotation. Which for my fashion loving self is kind of frustrating. Yes, there are always going to be pieces I gravitate to but living on my own with an entry level salary makes it hard to really get the items that I feel express my style. Getting new clothes honestly feels like a holiday these days. I have finally discovered how jewelry can help my repetitive outfits feel semi new. So, with the discovery of this JCPenney jewelry I thought I would write about why I love fashion.
I love fashion because it gives anyone the ability to create something that outwardly expresses something about themselves. I understand that this may feed into the idea of judging a person by their looks, but unless society as a whole changes drastically… why not play into that a little? I’m not saying go out there and judge other people by how they look, I’m saying that by knowing that others may do that to you, you have the opportunity to give out whatever message you want daily. Simply by experimenting with fashion. Clothing in a way, gives the wearer control over whatever image they want to send out; and the great thing is that the message doesn’t have to be permanent.
There are so many styles available these days that it is so easy to switch it up whenever you want. No one has a one dimensional personality. There a so many sides to everyone and fashion gives people the perfect opportunity to display that. However, if someone tends to wear the same style most of the time that isn’t bad thing. You don’t necessarily have to have a different look everyday, but the options out their gives you the choice about that message.
People should make assumptions about you based off of your behavior. But at the same it can take a while for people to truly understand you based off of the patterns in your behavior. In that case, use fashion to your advantage to show a certain side of your personality dependent on whatever situation you are in!
With that said, if you find yourself in a style rut like me I really encourage you to get some fun jewelry. It has really helped me feel excited about my outfits the last few days. It also helps me get creative about how I want to incorporate my new accessories into my outfits. Which in turn is making my think outside of the box for my normal on rotation outfits. This has given me new ways to express something about myself through fashion.
