Since I’m still young, going out on the weekends is still a pretty common theme in my life. While I am still young, I have noticed that going out on a whim isn’t as easy for me as it once was in college. It takes a little more motivation and a little more recovery than before. Since I enjoy watching “get ready with me” videos on Youtube, I thought I would share my own blog post version. Not all of the things in my Saturday routine are directly preparing me for a night out, but they all help me feel more confident or like I actually have the time to go out.
Lately I haven’t been able to sleep in much at all. Most of the time I am waking up around 8. Since it is the weekend I do try to lay in bed for a little while longer. Once I’ve rested a little bit more, I get out of bed around 9:00 to cook myself a fairly healthy breakfast. I tend to lean towards something eggs based since I don’t have as much time to make that during the week. Weekends allow me to take my time sipping my coffee while scrolling through social media 🙂
By mid morning I am usually getting dressed in some comfy clothes to go run errands in. These trips are for anything I might need for the week but I take advantage of being there to get what I need for that night (such as mixer). This allows me to not have to rush around right as me and my friends are nailing down our plans. I have also been on a kick lately that if I don’t do something productive in the day, I kind of feel like I’ve wasted the day. A good lazy day can be nice sometimes but I’ve just been feeling better as of recently when I do at least 1 productive task per day.
When I get back from the store I like to get in a quick 30 minute workout. I usually just use the treadmill to walk fast at an incline for 25 minutes. Then for a few minutes after that I do some arm weights. It isn’t much but it is one of those things that will help me feel more confident later on in the night. After my workout I make sure to hydrate. Throughout the day my goal is to have at least 2 water bottles (I’ve been loving this one from Lululemon) before I leave for the night.
Obviously the next thing I do is shower! At this point I like to take my time with any of the beauty related parts of getting ready. I’ll eat a light lunch before doing a face mask. Notice I’ve mentioned that I like to have a healthy breakfast and a lighter lunch. I do this because I really don’t like to feel bloated when going out and I know I’ll be consuming empty calories. Don’t worry though, I make sure to have a substantial dinner so I’m not drinking on an empty stomach. Back to my face mask point now. My current favorite one is pictured below; it makes my skin SO soft. Unfortunately, I got it in my stocking for Christmas so I have no idea where it is from.
After I take my face mask off I may watch some TV for a while. Eventually I will start doing my hair before I eat dinner. Once I eat dinner that is when I start my makeup. The last step I take is putting on my outfit.
When everyone starts confirming that they are close to being ready I will gather any of my necessities for the pre-game and get on my way!
I didn’t always have this much of a routine on Saturdays but I’ve been doing variations of this one for about a month now and it just helps me feel like my life is somewhat together.
