My sister is a freshman at San Diego State University. This past weekend was family weekend and I decided to visit for it. Since my parents also went this made it easy to be able to take a trip somewhere that truly felt like a vacation. Usually when I’m traveling it is back to Seattle. While I do like visiting home, sometimes those trips don’t always feel like a vacation.
I arrived on Friday and first stopped at the hotel we had for the actual weekend so we could be close to campus. We went to the welcome event at my Sister’s dorm and then went to dinner at Eureka.
The next day the main event was attending the SDSU football game. Sadly they lost just like my own school but it was still fun to see what tailgates are like at my sister’s school.
On Sunday we started the day by going to the theater my sister interns at off campus. We stayed for a show and then got a small bite to eat at her favorite coffee shop. Later that day we eventually made our way to our second hotel in the Mission Beach area of San Diego. All the university organized aspects of family weekend were over so my family decided to go spend a couple days at the beach.
Monday, I finally got to try the coffee shop I’ve been dying try in San Diego! That coffee shop would be Better Buzz, which I ended up loving. I recommend the avocado toast, hazelnut divinity, and the iced best drink ever.
After breakfast I finally got some true lounging time at the beach time. Then for lunch I found an awesome place called Juice Wave where I got a delicious acai bowl.
When my sister got out of class we went shopping in Lo Jolla. By the time we were done with that, we were all pretty hungry so we got dinner in Pacific Beach at a supper cute restaurant called Pueblo.
My flight back to Dallas was Tuesday afternoon so I made one last stop at Better Buzz and then got breakfast at Olive Cafe.
